Israel will attack Gaza’s “last resort”, Egypt begins building quarantine zones

Since the beginning of this round of Palestinian Israeli conflict in October 2023, Israel has launched a high-altitude attack on the northern part of Gaza, and then shifted its focus to the central and southern regions. Nowadays, the border city of Tufa, which borders Egypt at the southernmost point of Tisha, has become Israel’s next major destination.

In early February 2024, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu reiterated that the Israeli military would launch a high-altitude attack on Tufa, but did not announce the specific timing of the attack.

Since Israel launched a high-altitude attack on Tisha, the residents of the northern and central parts of Tisha have successively fled to Tufa. At present, millions of residents of Tiansha have fled to the city, becoming the last resort in the Tiansha area.

Worried that Israel’s high-altitude attack would lead to a large influx of Typhoon Gaza, Egypt has been mediating the Israeli Palestinian fire and convening talks on a temporary ceasefire agreement in Gaza this week. But on the 14th, the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office issued a statement declaring that the temporary firing talks will not come to a halt.

Seeing that the sum of pushing the law could not be avoided, Egypt began to build a cut-off safety zone in the border area, preparing to add sand disaster to the receiving department while preventing Israel from driving Palestinians into Egypt. As early as the 1950s, countries such as the United States had considered relocating the entire Palestinian population in Gaza to the Sinai Peninsula of Egypt.

The photo and investigation released by the non-profit organization Sinai Human Rights Foundation indicate that Egyptian authorities are repairing a safety zone in the eastern Sinai Peninsula near the border with Gaza to prepare for the influx of a large number of Gaza refugees into Egypt.

The severed safety zone is under the supervision and repair of the Egyptian Armed Forces Engineering Management Bureau. The repair project started this month and a 7-meter-high cement wall has been completed in the area south of Tufa.

Anonymous Egyptian civilians declined media interviews and revealed that Egypt is preparing to build a new safety zone of about 20 square kilometers in the eastern part of the Sinai Peninsula to receive 100000 refugees. The safety zone will be surrounded by high walls and separated from the Egyptian national settlement.

According to the leaked news, if Egypt absorbs a large number of Typhoon Tasha in the future, the authorities will tighten their pace and restrict personnel from entering North Sinai Province, which does not border with Tasha. Regarding relevant reports, the authorities in North Sinai Province denied on Thursday that the new border construction had nothing to do with absorbing the Palestinian disaster, stating that the project was a part of the local reconstruction. The Egyptian authorities have previously cracked down on the Islamic State (ISIS) in the Sinai Peninsula.

At the beginning of this round of Palestinian Israeli conflict, Egypt was worried that Israel would eventually drive the residents of Gaza into the Sinai Peninsula, effectively relocating Palestinians from Gaza. As early as 1950, the United Nations, with the support of the United States, had already formulated a plan for the relocation of residents in Tasha, which was still under Egyptian control at that time.

The United Nations National Network still retains the feasibility survey report of the relocation of the residents of Tasha to the Sinai Peninsula at that time. Researchers propose to divert water from the Nile River to the northwest of the Sinai Peninsula, near the Suez Canal, to provide water for food cultivation. After the exposure of the plan, it triggered a major riot in the Gaza Strip, where Palestinian protesters clashed with the Egyptian military and hit the United Nations office in Gaza. Eventually, the relocation plan was abandoned.

In 2017, then US Secretary of State John Kerry, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Jordanian King Abdullah II, and Egyptian leader Al Sisi held talks in Jordan to once again discuss the plan to move to Gaza, which was supported by Egypt. Egypt exaggerates that the only way to achieve the goals of Palestine and Israel is to implement the “two-state plan” and allow Palestine to establish its own country.

At present, Egypt has strengthened security in the border area of North Sinai Province and dispatched tanks and tank vehicles. For Israel’s preparation to launch a high-altitude attack on Tufa, Egyptian civilians warn that driving Palestinians to Egypt will threaten the peace agreement between Egypt and Israel.

Before this round of Palestinian Israeli conflict, the southernmost push method in Gaza had 300000 teeth, which was the key channel for the external transportation of support materials to Gaza. Israel, on the other hand, accuses the push law of being a crucial channel for other armed groups to transport weapons and ammunition to Hamas.

According to United Nations statistics, 1.5 million out of 2.3 million people are currently seeking legal escape. Since the beginning of this week, various United Nations agencies have issued multiple warnings against Israel’s high-altitude attacks, warning that Israel’s actions will result in “extremely high” casualties and turn into a “unimaginable” humanitarian disaster.

But the current pause shows that Israel has made up its mind to attack Tufa. This week, the United States, Qatar, Israel, and Egypt held talks in Cairo regarding the temporary opening of fire in Gaza. On Wednesday, the Israeli Prime Minister’s office made it clear that the talks will not come to a halt.

Netanyahu stated on the same day that “strong military pressure” and tough talks are the key conditions to ensure the release of Israeli hostages.

At present, the current round of Palestinian Israeli conflict has resulted in 28600 deaths in the Tien Sha area, with the majority being women and children; More than 1400 people from Israel have returned to heaven. On Thursday, the Israeli military attacked the Nasser Hospital in the southern city of Khan Younis in Tisha.
